Julia Brown Howard, 94, of Graham, NC passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
A native of Randolph County, she was the wife of 47 years to the late Calvin Warren Howard. She was a graduate of Graham High School and the Women’s College in Greensboro now UNC-G where she became a stenographer. She was employed with the Department of Transportation Division for Highways for 40 years where she was Secretary to the District Engineer. Julia was a member and treasurer of several organizations. She was a lover of all animals and named her beef cattle. She enjoyed keeping a well-manicured yard.
Julia was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham where she was a member of the T. J. Whitehead Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the church.
Survivors include her daughter, Melanie H. Cook; grandson, Hunter Lee Cook; sister-in-law, Becky Brown; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Z. Brown.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Graham on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. A private family entombment will held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park.
